Day 01, Trivandrum:Your arrival starts from "Trivandrum", the capital city of Kerala, will be followed by your gathering at 6:00 PM at Vivanta by Taj Hotel, Trivandrum for completing registration and check in formalities for the Maharajas' Express. Post this, you will be transferred to "Kochuveli Railway Station, Trivandrum" for boarding on the luxury train named Maharajas Express, here get mesmerized with a grand traditional welcome by the crew of Maharajas Express train and team members of Travelogy India, relax for a couple hours and join the delicious on-board dinner in the Maharaja dining cars - cum- restaurants named "Mayur Mahal" and "Rang Mahal". The day will conclude in the regal chambers and cabins of Maharajas, as tonight only by 9:15 PM you will move toward the loving destination "Chettinad-land of heritage and devotion".
Day 02, Chettinad - Karaikudi: Today morning, after having your on-board breakfast, get ready for a short but amazing sightseeing tour of "Chettinad", the place which is chock-full with rich cultural heritage, exotic food and unique specimens of Dravidian architecture will truly offer you a great glimpse of simple yet classy life of the wealthy Chettiar community of Tamil Nadu. Visit "Chettinad Mansions" boasts for the elaborately decorated, intricate design and remarkable features, later makes it to "Athnagudi Tile Factory"and experience how tiles are made. Post this, have on-board lunch and head out to one of the famous heritage hotel of Chettinad "Chettinad Heritage Hotels" to indulge in many activities like "Mundu/Dhoti Draping", "Saree Draping", "Henna Art" etc. Conclude the day by unwinding in Maharajas Express, on-board dinner and leaves for the heritage city, "Mahabalipuram".
Day 03, Mahabalipuram: This day, after on-board breakfast, around 8:00 AM, set out to explore "Mahabalipuram". Visit "5 Rathas", named from the epic Mahabharata "Five Rathas", also known as Panch Rathas is a set of rock temples that are constructed in the same shape as pagodas, and hugely resemble Buddhist shrines/monasteries and growth of Dravidian style of architecture. Later on, continue to visit "Arjuna's Penance" and "Shore Temple", after catching the glimpse of most brilliant sights, it's time to enjoy lunch at an exclusive venue with folk dances. Post this, come back to the luxurious Maharajas Express where delectable on-board dinner awaits you; Have a comfortable overnight stay, as night only the train proceed to "Mysore".
Day 04, Mysore: Today after on-board breakfast, you will be taken for a sightseeing tour of "Mysore". On the agenda, first visit to the "Wodeyar Palace popularly known as the Mysore Palace.", a fantabulous combination of Indo-Saracen architecture offers you a clear proof of royal structure of Yaduraya and Krishnaraja period. Following this, it's time to have a regal lunch at the "Lalitha Mahal Palace". Created in 1920s by Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV has now been converted into a five star property under the flagship of Ashok Group of Hotels surely fascinate you. With this, your sightseeing trail will come to an end, but if you have the energy, you will be left free to choose an optional activity, explore "Shreerangapatnam- The capital of Tipu Sultan" or simple you may return to the comforts of Maharajas' Express for on-board dinner and overnight stay, as around 8:00 PM the Maharajas' Express will proceed for "Hampi"
Day 05, Hampi: The fifth day of your trip will begin on an architectural note. After an on-board breakfast, you will be proceed to explore the important sites of one of the major historical places of South India "Hampi- The city of ruins and a UNESCO World Heritage Site", visit "Ganesha Statue", "Virupaksha Temple", "Narasimha Statute", "Elephant Stables"and the "Vittala Temple complex (housing Musical Pillars Temple and Stone Chariot)", beside these enjoy surroundings as on your entire sightseeing trail you will travel with Tuk Tuks and Battery Operated Carts. Post this, get back to the train for on-board lunch and around 03:45PM,head out to visit "Anegudi Village", believed to be the monkey kingdom of Kishkindha on the northern bank of Tungabhadra River offer you an opportunity to experience the life and culture of the locals and more you can participate in seasonal farming activities like planting paddy or harvesting sugarcane, so are you ready to get your hands soiled and learn about the agricultural practices still in use here, more if you are not in the mood of excursion, you can opt for a rejuvenating spa at one of the deluxe hotels. Later head back to the train for overnight stay.Dinner shall be served on-board.
Day 06, Hampi - Goa : This day will have yet another surprise in store, as early morning the train will proceed for "Goa", en-route enjoy picturesque surroundings which is followed by delicious on-board breakfast and lunch. Once you reached, relax for a while and around 04:00 PM get ready for an exciting evening of dance and music, on the way visit "Goa Chitra Museum", one of the greatest private ethnographic museum that display a unique collection of pottery, farming tools, musical instruments, carts and palanquins depicting the growth of civilization in Goa. Day 07, Goa : This pleasant day, after on-board breakfast, set on a sightseeing sojourn to the wonderful churches of North Goa. Visit the famous "Basilica de Bom Jesus" one of the most important attractions of Goa famous for housing the tomb and mortal remains of St Francis Xavier, beside this its Portuguese style and the architecture is truly mesmerizing, later make it to "Se Cathedral", just opposite to the Basilica de Bom Jesus, an imposing building dedicated to St Catherine of Alexandria, half-Doric and half-Tuscan style exteriors surely captivates you. Post this, it's time to have a lunch at an exclusive venue and then continue the heritage walk through Fontainhas and Sao Tome in "Old Panjim" , no doubt its terraced hills, cobbled streets, churches and vibrant houses give you a great glimpse of the combination of the Portuguese culture with Goanese. Day 08, Disembark in Mumbai : Early this morning, have breakfast at Maharajas' Express and around 08:15 AM get a drive to Mumbai Airport/Railway Station for your onward journey.
